ACCLAIM MAGAZINE INTERVIEW – Changing The Pattern
A fantastic, in depth interview with Founder Nick Arnold on The Holding Pattern…
The Holding Pattern changes the way we explore and discover music and gives more exposure to independent artists. We speak to THP founder, Nick Arnold, who gives us the lowdown on why he thought The Holding Pattern needed to happen…
Could you tell us what exactly The Holding Pattern does?
The Holding Pattern has been created to provide much needed exposure for ALL independent and undiscovered artists through an innovative and engaging platform…it’s an autonomous platform for all!
Bringing together for the first time both the creative and artist in a marketplace where the artist decides what price to sell to their fans, whilst introducing an automatic license to creatives and production companies looking to source music for commercial use (Film, TV, Documentaries, Radio, TV commercials etc)
Our quick and innovative commercial platform will revolutionise how music is found and used for public broadcast. It’s all about giving power back to the artist, allowing them to decide the price on both commercial and personal use. The Holding Pattern also provides a unique user experience for the fans to explore, search and discover new music with our innovative search engines.
We created the Visualiser to keep the art of exploring and discovering new music alive. There are so many genres and sub-genres in music today that searching for new music lineally or in other music services is daunting, intimidating and not fun!
Could you explain to us how the ‘Visualiser’ works?
Our Visualiser has been created to enrich and educate the user by displaying all the categories of music in an innovative and engaging floating 3D musical DNA. This unique visual search is interactive and allows the user to listen and purchase, while exploring the vast musical world. This will allow more artists the opportunity of being discovered, listened to, and hopefully sustain their talents from real sales.
Encouraging fans to search and listen to music they normally wouldn’t have had the opportunity, helps the artist gain exposure, and be discovered. As you explore one genre within our Visualiser, other music genres will appear in the back ground providing more options for you to explore, kind of like going down the rabbit hole, and never coming to an end. All music comes from a source or is influenced by the other, so there is no end. It’s amazing and really cool to use!
What inspired the creation of the Holding Pattern?
I’ve been a musician for 15 years, been signed to major publishing house in LA and played in many bands and still do. I’ve scored music for film, TV, and theatre as a composer, and I know what a musician wants and I also know what a creative needs. The industry has changed rapidly and is a fractured music business model of it’s former self. It lacks vision and inventiveness. The independent and undiscovered needs a musical platform that is engaging for fans, transparent and autonomous for artists, and quick and innovative for creatives to use. This is what The Holding Pattern provides…and this is what inspired me to create this platform.
