DAN CRESTANI – SPOTLIGHT ARTIST OF THE WEEK!
With no real musical talent in his family, Dan Crestani has somehow conjured an incredible feel for music. From a young age playing his Angus Young inspired guitar riffs, to hitting adolescence and leaving the electric behind for his new love of acoustic music on his baby, the twelve-string Maton. An incredible feel for funky and soulful acoustic tunes that leave his audience amazed and asking; “Where can I listen to more?” Dan started playing small venues around Sydney in late 2010 to crowds varying from 20-150 people. Having recently released his debut EP Soul’s at Sea with producer Helmut Uhlmann with raving reviews Dan is now set for the next stage of his musical journey.
After a few listens we can honestly say The Holding Pattern loves the musical styling of this young chap. Ever so cool as he glides over the guitar his smoky voice soothes your soul into a sweet melancholia.
Combining the best of the psychedelic and folk genres, an infectiously groovy sound is conceived that can only be classified as Dan Crestani….influenced by the likes of John Butler and Jack Johnson you can hear the surf and relaxed charm in such songs like “Just Friends” or “Karma Come Get You”.
Pick from his EP “Soul’s at Sea” is “Save Your Soul” a languid walk down a bluesy Indie folk feel saturated reverb vocal track that haunts you like a lost whale call. Sometimes it’s the simplicity in songs that make them the most beautiful, and he certainly knows how to keep your soul at sea
Dan has recently played with artists such as Iluka, Christina Parie and Dean McLeod from Tin Sparrow, making waves in the rich Sydney music scene Dan is in store for the brightest of futures.
